Welcome to Cape Palinuro
Cape Palinuro, and the surrounding Cilento seaside villages of
Pisciotta, Caprioli and Marina di Camerota, Centola, are
a beautiful location in the south of Italy with probably
the cleanest sea in the whole Mediterranean Sea.
With a 10 km long beach to the south and a 5 km long
beach to the north, Cape Palinuro can offer the best of
seaside vacation.
The main tourist season occurs between the 15th of July to
the 15th of September and the top tourist 'rush-hour'
is the month of August.
This is when many Italians and international tourists descend onto Palinuro turning the usually quiet village into a summer holiday center.
In the winter, Palinuro is made up of about 90 families but in the summer season there can be anything from 190.000 to 250.000 thousand tourists in the area.
For the rest of the year the Palinuro area is pretty quiet
but the weather is sunny most of the yßear with sea bathing
temperatures becoming agreeable in April all through to
November.
Most facilities in Palinuro such as hotels, camping sites and restaurants
start to open for service at Easter all the way up to
end of September.
Some hotels, pensions and restaurants remain open all
year.
If you like the bustle and hustle of a seaside resort
with discos, bars, restaurants and everything open for
service than a good time to go is in the full season (July
- August)
And even then it still is not like Rimini in August.
If you enjoy 15 km of empty beaches with a nearly hot
seawater temperature - then the best option is from mid
September to November.
Spring is also beautiful and it warms up from around
the end of March with sea bathing humanly acceptable from April onwards.
Diving, wind surfing, deep sea fishing, country rambling,
horse riding, and most other sports are on offer most
of the year, not to mention probably the best cousine in the world.
